As a founding member of Women in Ophthalmology (WIO), Dr. Hilal-Campo has been a steadfast champion for progress in the field.

Dr. Hilal-Campo is relentlessly focused on delivering the best possible results, whether performing advanced laser-assisted cataract surgery with premium lens technology or providing nuanced, cutting-edge treatments for dry eye disease, including IPL therapy. She provides a full continuum of medical care, from expert glaucoma management to routine exams for the entire family.

Her academic journey began at Columbia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry as a member of the first fully co-educational class, followed by her Doctor of Medicine degree. She continued her training with an internship in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian and completed her ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Mount Sinai Medical Center. This elite background, culminating in her certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is the cornerstone of the advanced, patient-focused care she provides.

A dedicated patient advocate, Dr. Hilal-Campo has always sought better solutions to improve quality of life. In her clinic, she identified a critical gap in the beauty industry after treating countless patients, primarily women, suffering from makeup-related irritation and dry eye. This led her to innovate a solution herself: she developed Twenty/Twenty Beauty to offer eye-safe formulas that allow people to enjoy cosmetics without risking their long-term eye health.

This passion for helping people extends globally. Believing that quality vision is a right, not a privilege, Dr. Hilal-Campo has traveled on surgical missions to Africa and India to perform cataract surgery on those in need. This work is a core part of her identity as a physician, reflecting a profound commitment to using her skills to heal and empower others.

I’m incredibly fortunate to do what I love every day—helping people see the world more clearly and live with greater ease. The medical field is always evolving, and in ophthalmology, the opportunities to make a difference, whether through routine care or advanced cataract surgery, are truly exciting.
