Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery
Laser-assisted techniques allow us to remove cloudy natural lenses with remarkable safety and precision, replacing them with advanced intraocular lens implants for sharper vision.
Cataracts often cause blurred or hazy vision, glare around lights, dulled color perception, and difficulty driving at night, all of which can be relieved with surgery.
A femtosecond laser creates precise incisions and gently softens the cataract, preparing it for removal. A new intraocular lens (IOL) is then placed to restore clearer sight.
We offer advanced technology IOLs, including the Vivity lens, which can address astigmatism and reduce reliance on glasses for distance, intermediate, and near vision needs.
Most patients notice brighter, sharper vision within a few days and return to normal activities soon after surgery. Many celebrate clearer vision than they’ve had in decades, sometimes even better than 20/20.
LASIK & PRK Vision Correction
To reduce, or even eliminate, the need for glasses or contact lenses, we offer LASIK and PRK procedures that reshape the cornea for crisp, lasting vision.
Ideal candidates are adults in good eye health with a stable glasses or contact lens prescription. A detailed exam ensures safety and accuracy before recommending LASIK or PRK.
Both procedures use an excimer laser. LASIK provides a quicker recovery with a flap-based technique, while PRK reshapes the cornea's surface and is often chosen for patients with thinner corneas, with recovery that progresses gradually.
Both LASIK and PRK are outpatient procedures using numbing eye drops. Most patients describe the sessions as efficient, with same-day return home.
LASIK patients often see clearly within 24 to 48 hours. PRK recovery is more gradual, with vision improving steadily over days to weeks.
Light-Based Dry Eye Therapy (IPL)
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a proven treatment for dry eye caused by inflamed or blocked meibomian glands, offering lasting comfort when other measures are insufficient.
IPL is particularly effective for patients with ocular rosacea, chronic blepharitis, makeup-related irritation, or persistent dry eye that has not improved with standard therapies.
Patients often report relief from burning, redness, and eye grittiness, as well as clearer vision and reduced reliance on lubricating eye drops after a series of treatments.
During a brief session, protective shields cover your eyes while gentle pulses of light are applied to the skin near the eyelids. You can return to regular activities right away.
Dr. Hilal-Campo often integrates IPL into individual dry eye regimens that may also include lid care, targeted eye drops, and guidance on eye-safe beauty practices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are common questions from patients considering laser and light-based eye procedures at our practice.
No. Numbing drops keep the process comfortable, and while you may feel brief pressure or see flashes of light, the procedures are not painful.
Cataract lens implants are designed to last a lifetime, while laser vision correction usually provides long-lasting results, though natural changes in the eye can still occur with age.
Many patients significantly reduce or eliminate the need for glasses, especially for daily activities. Reading glasses may still be needed depending on lens choice and age-related changes.
Standard cataract surgery is covered by insurance. Advanced options, such as laser assistance or premium lens implants, may involve additional costs, which are explained in detail before treatment.
Yes. We routinely accommodate same-day and emergency visits to provide timely care and peace of mind when urgent eye issues arise.
